Join Emeritus Professor Peter Sullivan to explore managing cognitive load to foster engagement, build confidence and reduce anxiety in mathematics.

In this live webinar, Peter will explain ways that excessive cognitive lead can inhibit learning and offer six steps that teachers can use to support students to manage this cognitive load. When learning mathematics, we want students to engage in thinking for themselves, to be confident enough to persist even when the ideas are complex and to manage any anxiety as a result of this learning. A key first step is to manage the complexity of learning mathematics which is directly related to cognitive load.
