The 57th NMSS will be held in Canberra in January

The National Mathematics Summer School is a program for motivated and high-achieving school students that has been held each January since 1969.

The selection of students is organised by the mathematics teachers’ association in each state, as well as the Director of NMSS.  Students are selected based on their mathematical interest, achievement, and potential, insofar as these can be assessed.  Participation is normally restricted to about 75 students who have completed Year 11 in school.

How to Apply

Each state has its own process and deadlines for selecting students. Links to information about the application process for all states and territories are available below. Applications for NMSS 2024 have now closed. The application process for NMSS 2025 will open in mid-2024.   South Australia
