One of the things that students struggle...with in studying maths is knowing how it applies after school. If they really enjoy it, it's unclear to them how it can be used in the real world... I think this competition has the scope to show that to the students.

Mathematical investigations are a great way to introduce students of all levels to the excitement and relevance of mathematics in everyday life. They allow individuals to shine and groups to be challenged and extended in collaborations.

Students of all ages can gain valuable insight into the writing of an investigation, as they progress towards years 11 and 12.

And an entry can bring recognition for students, kudos for schools, cash awards and automatic nomination of winners for the AAMT National Mathematics Talent Quest.

Thanks to the South Australian Department for Education, entry into the competition is FREE to public and private schools and students across the state.
