Reimagining Linear Programming
John BamentNT School of Distance Education
Take linear programming beyond procedures and into real mathematical thinking. In this workshop, explore how students move from trial-and-error with simultaneous equations to modelling constraints, graphing feasible regions on a graphics calculator, and explaining why optimal solutions occur at vertices.
Dive into the rich Maths behind changing constraints, multiple optima, and non-discrete solutions while strengthening students’ reasoning for the Mathematical Investigation (including RC5 predictions).
You’ll also explore how AI tools can support idea generation and deeper analysis—without replacing the Maths—so students can clearly explain not just what works, but why.
