Saturday Morning Mathematics Sessions

Students in a Years 4 to 11 who are interested in developing their problem-solving skills in mathematics beyond the school curriculum are encouraged to attend.

Sessions will be held at the Mathematical Association of South Australia, Building D, 80 Payneham Road Stepney, from 9.30am to 12.30pm.

A charge of $5 covers the cost of morning tea.

Saturday Maths Problem Solving is an opportunity for students in Years 3 to 11 who are interested in developing their problem-solving skills in mathematics beyond the school curriculum. For more information about the Saturday Maths Problem Solving sessions please contact Michael Bammann: mbamann@gmail.com. Michael is a member of MASA’s Committee and he helps identify Year 11 students that may be eligible to attend National Mathematics Summer School held in Canberra each January.

The sessions assist students of like interests and abilities to:

  • Find friendship, inspiration and encouragement while working on, thinking about and solving non-standard and sometimes complex problems.
  • Build up a tool chest of strategies which will enable them to solve problems they have never seen before.
  • Become flexible and creative in their approach to solving problems. 

All students are required to bring paper, pen and a calculator. Morning tea will be provided. The sessions are run by fully qualified educators.
