Stage 1 Investigations [Electronic download]

This publication has been compiled to respond to the needs of teachers of Stage 1 Mathematics. An electronic version of the tasks is provided so you can adapt and modify the tasks to meet your needs. A few solutions and student work samples are also available in the electronic version of the publication. Many of the tasks are open-ended or require students to generate their own data. It is difficult to provide solutions for these tasks but student work samples are a valuable guide to teachers. These tasks are generally of an A grade standard but may contain errors or omissions. If you use any tasks from this publication with your classes, PLEASE consider forwarding a good student folio task (with student’s permission) to MASA to be included in further printing of this publication.

The tasks have been presented under the SACE Stage 14 topics. Some of the tasks are relevant for more than one topic and where this is clearly so have been listed under both topics. The tasks are of varying difficulty and some may be more applicable for Mathematics, Applications or Pathways. Teachers need to decide which tasks are most appropriate for their student cohort.
