MASA – Ten Investigations For Year 7

These tasks have been designed for introducing the writing of a report for a mathematical
investigation in Year 7, and written in conjunction with “MASA’s Guide To Report Writing”.’
The phrase ‘mini investigations’ has been used as many of the tasks provide limited direction to
students. Teachers are invited to extend and adapt these tasks to suit their cohort. Additional
direction can be provided for students with higher needs and more capable students can be
challenged with investigating a later change to the original parameters of the task.
The following can be used as a guide for assessment of these tasks. The teacher may
otherwise wish to assess the individual sections of the report (for example, the Introduction and
the Conclusion).
