Love Maths [Electronic Resource]
The LOVE MATHS concept was originated by Mark Robson and developed by staff at Westminster School, Adelaide. It has been further adapted by Dr Pauline Carter of the Mathematical Association of South Australia (MASA).
What is Love Maths?
It is a series of mathematical and numeracy related events designed to appeal across the secondary school and wider community. The aim is to create opportunities to experience success and enjoyment in a mathematical context. Love Maths aims to extend mathematics across the curriculum.
The aim is:
- For high levels of participation
With differentiated activities to suit different abilities and ages
- To provide a positive experience of maths
With fun, engaging and relevant activities
- To involve the whole school community
Including students, teachers, parents, non-teaching staff and school leadership
- To have minimal extra workload for staff
Teachers are busier than ever. Love Maths provides a resource of materials for specific events but also suggests how schools can take advantage of other Maths events that are scheduled in August.
