WORKSHOP OVERVIEW – Developing Multiplicative Fluency through Strategic Thinking

The aim of this professional learning session is to provide teachers with a carefully selected range of practical activities — primarily focused on multiplication — that can be used to develop genuine mathematical fluency. These tasks are designed not only to build accuracy and efficiency, but also to support students in applying and connecting key mathematical ideas across contexts.

Participants will experience elements of the learning themselves. For example, teachers may be challenged to work with the 17 times tables. This is not intended as a test of recall, but as a deliberate opportunity to demonstrate how fluency can develop rapidly when effective strategies are used. By moving beyond rote memorisation, teachers will be encouraged to rely on number relationships, partitioning, and known facts to construct new understanding.

This Live Webinar event will be facilitated by the T2L (Teachers to Leaders) team in collaboration with MASA.  

PRESENTER BIO: Andrew Lorimer-Derham is a passionate educator and inventor who relentlessly creates unique ways to spread a love of mathematics. REGISTRATION LOGISTICS:  

For school processed bookings details of participants will be collected at the time of order.  Invoicing will be sent to the person placing the order.  Once orders have been processed registered attendees will receive event advice.  Webinar links will be shared with registered attendees by the T2L Team 24-48 hours before the event.

Please note a single ticket order is required for each registered attendee.  If you are placing a multi-registration order please add a ticket for each attendee.  (You will need to provide full name and email details for each registered attendee at the time of ordering.) 

An alternate video recording can be made available to registered attendees after the event.  Details will be advised and confirmed by the T2L Team.

RESCHEDULING – Should T2L/MASA need to reschedule or cancel the planned workshop event all registered attendees can elect to receive a full refund or have their registration transferred to the rescheduled event.
